Northampton Area

thThe area was formed in September 1962 by Cyril Starr, who became the area’s first Chairman. At the inaugural meeting 34 people became members that evening. At the second meeting held in October a committee wass formed and the Area’s first Ladies; Evening arranged for Decemner at the Wedgewood Restaurant.

Since the first Ladies’ Evening it moved to the Solarium Ballroom untol 1974. It then moved to the Northampton Moat House. Other venues include The George at Kettering and the Whetstone Hotel, Northampton before settling ay its current venue the Delta Marriott Gotel Northampton.

The area has always been well supported with good membership numbers.

Monthly dinner meetings have been held at various locations in the County before moving to the current venue of the The Worlds End Pub. Etton, Northants.

The area has arranged various social functions over the years including Medieval Banquets, Race Nights, BBQ suppers and Stag Nights as well as the annual ‘Black Tie’ Ladies’ Evenings now held in October each year.

The Area welcomed its first National Life member, Cyril Starr in 1966
